Active listings vs sold comps

Why eBay active listings and completed sales can show different price ranges

Active listings and sold comps answer different questions.

Sold comps

Sold comps show what buyers actually paid. These are usually the strongest evidence for value.

Use sold comps to answer:

  • What is this card worth right now?
  • What have similar cards actually sold for?
  • Is a listed price realistic?

Active listings

Active listings show what sellers are asking. They are useful for supply and current availability, but they are not the same as market value.

Use active listings to answer:

  • How many copies are available?
  • Are sellers asking much higher than recent sales?
  • Is there a rare variant currently listed?

Why Cubbby may ignore an active listing

Cubbby may avoid using a listing if the title, image, grade, variant, or price looks like a mismatch. One high active listing should not automatically raise the value of every matching card.
