Yes. Grade is one of the most important factors in a card's value, and Cubbby accounts for it in all pricing data.
Grade-specific pricing
When you set a grade on a card (e.g. PSA 10, BGS 9.5, Raw), Cubbby looks for sale prices specifically for that grade. A PSA 10 and a raw copy of the same card are treated as completely separate items with their own price histories.
This means your portfolio value accurately reflects the grades in your collection, not just a generic card price.
How much does grade matter?
The difference can be dramatic. For a popular modern rookie card, typical price ranges might look like:
| Grade | Typical price range | |-------|-------------------| | Raw | $10-30 | | PSA 8 | $20-50 | | PSA 9 | $40-100 | | PSA 10 | $100-500+ | | BGS Black Label 10 | $500-2,000+ |
The exact numbers depend on the player, set, and current demand. Star players and key rookies see the biggest grade premiums.
Setting the correct grade
Always set the grade accurately when adding a card. An incorrect grade means your portfolio value will be off. To update a grade:
- Go to the card detail page
- Tap Edit (pencil icon)
- Change the grade
- Tap Save
Your portfolio value updates immediately to reflect the new grade-specific pricing.
What if there's no price data for my grade?
For less common grades or niche cards, Cubbby may not find recent sales data for your specific grade. In this case:
- The card may show $0.00 or no price
- Pricing will update automatically when new sales data becomes available
- You can still track the card in your collection, but it won't contribute to your portfolio value until pricing data is found
Upgrading a card's grade
If you send a raw card for grading and it comes back as a PSA 10, update the grade in Cubbby to see the new, grade-specific market value. You'll likely see your portfolio value increase significantly.
